Recorded at a miraculous concert held at a church in a suburb of London in 2005 with Yoshisaburo Toyozumi and leading figures of the British improvisation world, Lor Coxhill, John Russell, and Veriyan Weston! The concert of improvisation was held at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Welwyn Garden City, a suburb of London, hosted by pianist Veriyan Weston. The concert was a truly special event featuring Veriyan Weston, the late Lor Coxhill (ss) and the late John Russell (g), both longtime leaders of the British improvisation scene, along with Japanese living legend drummer Yoshisaburo Toyozumi (ds, erhu), who was on a visit to the UK at the time. Weston did not play the piano. Weston played the pipe organ of the church instead of the piano. The performance included five duos by Weston & Coxhill, Russell & Toyosumi, Coxhill & Russell, Weston & Toyosumi (erhu here), and Coxhill & Toyosumi, and two by all the musicians. The recording was done by Martin Davidson of EMANEM, who has recorded many recordings of the British improv scene and made them known throughout the world.Cover art by Yoshisaburo Toyosumi.
